About Us
The Myopia Consortium is a collaborative network of academics and clinical researchers across the UK dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field of myopia. The UK has a strong track record of impactful research in myopia, and the consortium enables research to address critical questions related to myopia development and its management. This focus is crucial, as numerous interventions for myopia management are being introduced to the UK market without comprehensive large-scale data to support their effectiveness and to better identify any adverse effects of the treatments. By collaborating with optical bodies, primary care optometry practices, the NHS, and secondary care colleagues, the consortium aims to utilize their expertise and networks to optimize the quality and impact of our collective research. The consortium seeks to support and enable clinicians to engage in myopia management through enhanced training and ongoing support nationally and via regional hubs. By doing so, they aim to promote accessible and widespread implementation of evidence-based strategies in myopia management within primary care.
